Tips and Tricks - Bouncy Castle Operating Instructions

Bouncy castle assembly instructions

  • Check the wind conditions – the bouncy castle must not be set up (or operated) if the wind speed is above 23 km/h. Do not inflate large bouncy castles without first securing them.
  • Choose a level location (meadow, asphalt, etc.).
  • Walk around the area to remove any sharp or pointed objects (rocks, glass, etc.) that could damage the play equipment. On hard or rocky ground, we recommend using a protective mat (tarpaulin).
  • If the surface is hard, place suitable safety mats at all entrances and exits to the play equipment. This is a requirement according to EN 14960.
  • Before setting up/inflating, please note the maximum height of the bouncy castle, for example, the safety distance from overhead power lines. Please contact an electrician to inspect the electrical line and determine the necessary safety distance.
  • Unroll and unfold the bouncy castles – the filling and drain hoses are located at the back of the device.
  • For secure anchoring, place 50cm-long ground spikes for each guy rope approximately 1m from the bouncy castle. Before placing a ground anchor, make sure that there are no electrical or water lines or similar structures in the ground in these areas. Please also contact the local authorities in this regard.
The ground anchors must also not be placed in the impact area (area of the safety mat) of the exit!
  • In places where ground spikes aren't possible, other stable anchoring options should be used: trees, vehicles, light and flagpoles, vehicle trailer hitches (your own), possibly manhole covers, and anchors – 14 mm anchors with 12 screws and rings – (obtain permission from the landowner). Only tie ropes after inflation!
  • In public spaces, a barrier fence must be erected, including the blower. The distance on three sides must be at least 1.8 m, 1 m high, and at least 3.5 m on the open side. The exact distance of the fence is calculated by dividing the height of the highest platform of the play equipment by 2. The exception is if the play equipment is placed directly against a wall. The wall must be 2 m higher than the highest platform of the play equipment.
  • Slide the long, thinner air inlet hose over the fan funnel and tie it securely. Tie off the large, thick air outlet hose. Position the fan at least 1.2 m from a closed wall so that air can be blown in without much resistance. The fan should not move when children jump.
  • Using an electrically operated blower: CAUTION: The blower may only be used with the play equipment with which it was supplied (i.e., for closed systems). It has an approximately 1.5 m long power cable and should, if possible, be connected directly to the mains power supply. Use only a YMM extension cable with a cable cross-section of at least 3 x 1.5 mm² (for a rated power of 3,500 W-16 A) up to a maximum of 50 m. In addition, at least one YMM 3 x 2.5 mm² cable must be used. When using multiple blowers, always use the YMM 3 x 2.5 mm² cable! The cable from a cable reel or drum must be fully unwound (risk of overheating)!
  • Connect the blower to the power supply – the play equipment will inflate. Once fully inflated, tie each guy rope securely. Drive the ground anchors in completely, so the ropes should be slightly taut.
  • The fan remains in operation as long as the object is in use.
  • Make sure that all walls, towers, jumping cushions, and entry steps are fully inflated. Children should not be able to push through them during use. Otherwise, the device must be inspected for holes and the functioning of the blower, power supply, etc. must be checked.
  • After assembly, ensure that access or misuse by third parties or unauthorized persons is prevented. In public areas, a barrier fence must be used, including the blower. A distance of 1.5 meters from the play equipment must be maintained. Cables and plugs must be routed out of reach of children.
  • During inflation of the play equipment, users must be kept away from the structure. Either post a warning sign during inflation, or remain with the play equipment or a supervisor and keep users away.

Operation of the bouncy castle

  • The operator should determine the number of required operating personnel. Each caregiver must adhere to the operator's instructions. It is very important that these persons constantly supervise the operation and the users (children)! The responsibility for supervision remains with the parents/guardians!
  • In the interest of trouble-free and safe operation, the following is not permitted:
  • That children who are not at least 25 cm smaller than the inside of the outer wall use the bouncy castle.
  • Bringing shoes, sharp, hard or pointed objects, fire and possibly glasses.
  • Playing in the entry area (the purpose of the step is to enable safe entry and exit of the play equipment).
  • Climbing or hanging on walls and towers etc.
  • Staying in the area of guy ropes and fans.
  • The service staff should pay special attention to small and anxious children. Separate older children from younger ones.
  • A whistle, bell or megaphone should be used by the operating personnel to draw attention to themselves even in noisy conditions.
  • Only allow as many users as are necessary to ensure that the bouncy castle is not overloaded and that each child has enough space.
  • If wind, storm, or thunderstorm is approaching, remove children from the object promptly. Turn off the fan and open all existing exhaust hoses.
  • Use is not permitted when wet.
  • Exclude people with behavioral problems or those under the influence of alcohol from using the facility.

People who are under the influence of alcohol or other conspicuous persons, as well as pregnant people or people with heart disease, are NOT permitted to use the bouncy castle.

Dismantling / folding up the bouncy castle

  • Turn off the fan and open all air inlet and outlet hoses and zippers on the bouncy castle.
  • Allow the air to escape completely. This takes approximately 10-20 minutes. Tighten these hoses to expel the air more quickly. Disconnect the ropes from the ground stakes or anchor points.
  • Even when the air is being released, users must be kept away from the play equipment either by a warning sign or by supervisory staff.
  • Always take off your shoes before entering the play equipment.
  • Place all towers, walls, and ropes facing inward. Only the floor area may be on grass/asphalt. Distribute everything as evenly as possible over the entire area to avoid large bulges when folding. Stand inside the bouncy castle with 2-3 helpers along one long side (outer edge) with your back to the bouncy castle. Take the outer edge and walk backward 2/3 of the total width.
  • Now turn over and take the other long side (outer edge) and fold it in half in the same way, so that the two long sides are just touching. Do not overlap!
  • Make sure that no internal parts, ropes or air hoses are hanging out of the sides.
  • Only the underside and the inlet/outlet hoses are visible.
  • If you want, you can put your shoes back on now. Now, if necessary, deflate the floor and fold the larger surface once. You now have two equal-sized surfaces for one final "fold." The total width of the folded play equipment must not exceed 1 m.
  • With a few helpers, go from front to back to push out any remaining air.
  • Now, starting from the front, two people should roll up the bouncy castle evenly and tightly like a snail. While rolling up, one or more helpers should walk directly in front of the resulting roll to press the material together.
  • Finally, place a rope or tensioning strap around the pulley, tuck the inlet/outlet hose into the center of the pulley under the rope or tensioning strap, and tighten it.
  • If the bouncy castle needs to be folded up while wet, it must be thoroughly cleaned as soon as possible, but no later than 2-3 days later, and dried while inflated.
  • To clean, wipe the material with a damp cloth. For heavier soiling, use a mild cleaning agent (POLUX). Never use strong solvents or cleaning agents! (Risk of damage).
