Building a bouncy castle operating instructions
- Check the wind conditions - if the wind speed is 23 km/h or more, the bouncy castle may not be set up (not in operation). For large bouncy castles, do not inflate them without first securing them.
- Choose a flat location (meadow, asphalt, etc.).
- Walk over the area to remove sharp and pointed objects (stones, glass, etc.) that could damage the play equipment. If the ground is hard or stony, we recommend using a base (tarpaulin).
- If the surface is hard, place suitable safety mats at all entrances and exits to the play equipment. Regulation according to EN 14960!
- Before setting up/inflating, please note the maximum height of the bouncy castle, e.g. safety distance from overhead electrical lines. Please contact an electrician who will carry out the electrical Line checked and the necessary safety distance determined.
- Unroll and unfold the bouncy castles - the filling and outlet hoses are located at the back of the device.
- To anchor securely, place 50cm long ground spikes for each guy rope approximately 1m away from the bouncy castle. Before setting a ground anchor, make sure that there are no electricity/water pipes or similar in the ground in these areas. Here, too, please contact the local authorities.
The ground anchors must also not be placed in the impact area (area of the safety mat) of the exit! - In places where it is not possible to attach ground spikes, other stable fastening options should be used for anchoring: trees, vehicles, light and flag poles, trailer hitches of vehicles (your own), possibly manhole covers, place dowels - 14-gauge dowels with 12 screws and rings - (obtain permission from the landowner). Only tie the ropes after inflation!
- A barrier fence must be set up in public places, which also includes the fan. Distance on 3 sides at least 1.8 m, 1m high and on the free side at least 3.5 m. The exact distance of the fence is calculated with the height of the highest platform of the play equipment, divided by 2. The exception is if the play equipment is placed directly against a wall. The wall must be 2 m higher than the highest platform of the play equipment!
- Slide the long, thinner air inlet hose over the blower funnel and tie it tightly. Tie off the large, thick air outlet hose. Position the fan at least 1.2 m from a closed side of the wall so that the air can be blown in without great resistance. The fan should not move when the children jump.
- Using an electrically powered blower: ATTENTION: Blower may only be used for the play equipment with which it was supplied (i.e. for closed systems). It has an approx. 1.5 m long power connection cable and should, if possible, be connected directly to the power supply. Only use a YMM extension cable with a cable cross-section of at least 3 x 1.5 mm² (for a nominal output of 3,500W-16A) up to a maximum of 50 m cable. In addition, at least one YMM 3 x 2.5 mm² cable should be used. When using multiple fans, always use the YMM cable with 3 x 2.5 mm²! The cable of a cable reel or drum must be completely unrolled (risk of overheating)!
- Connect the fan to the power supply - the play equipment will be inflated. When fully inflated, tie each guy rope tightly. Drive in the ground anchors completely and the ropes should then be slightly tensioned.
- The fan remains in operation as long as the object is in use.
- When inflated, make sure that all walls, towers, jumping cushions and entry steps are firmly inflated. They must not be allowed to be pushed through by children during use. Otherwise, the device must be inspected for holes or the function of the fan, power supply, etc. must be checked.
- Once set up, ensure that access or misuse by third parties or unauthorized persons is impossible. A barrier fence, which also includes the fan, must be used in public areas. A distance of 1.5m from the play equipment must be maintained. Cables and connection plugs must be laid out of the reach of children.
- While the play equipment is inflating, users must be kept away from the object. During the inflation process, either put up a sign or you or the supervisor stay with the play equipment and keep the users away!
Operator of the bouncy castle
- The operator should determine the number of operating personnel required. Every carer must adhere to the specified operator instructions. It is very important that these people constantly monitor the operation and the users (children)! The duty of supervision remains with the legal guardians!
In order to ensure problem-free and safe operation, the following is not permitted:
- That children who are not at least 25 cm smaller than the inside of the outer wall can use the bouncy castle.
- Bring shoes, sharp, hard or pointed objects, fire and, if necessary, glasses.
- Playing in the entry area (the purpose of the step is to allow safe entry and exit from the play equipment).
- Climbing or hanging on walls and towers etc.
- Staying in the areas of guy ropes and fans.
- The operating staff should pay particular attention to small and anxious children. Separate older children from smaller ones.
- A whistle, bell or megaphone should be used by the operating staff so that they can draw attention to themselves even when there is noise.
- Only allow as many users as possible so that the bouncy castle is not overloaded and every child has enough space.
- If there is an approaching wind, storm or thunderstorm, remove the children from the object in good time. Turn off the blower and open any existing outlet hoses.
- Use when wet is not permitted.
- Exclude people with behavioral problems or those who are drunk from using the facility.
People who are drunk or have other conspicuous behavior, as well as those who are pregnant or have a heart condition, must NOT be allowed to use the bouncy castle.
Dismantling/folding the bouncy castle
- Turn off the fan and open all air inlet and outlet hoses such as the bouncy castle's zippers.
- Allow the air to escape completely. Duration approx. 10 - 20 minutes. Tighten these hoses to release air more quickly. Detach the ropes from the ground spikes or attachment points.
- Even when the air is leaking, users must be kept away from the play equipment either with a notice board or by supervisory staff.
- Always take off your shoes before entering the playground equipment.
- Place all towers, walls and ropes inside. Only the floor area may be on meadow/asphalt. Distribute everything as evenly as possible over the entire surface so that there are no large bulges when folded. With 2-3 helpers, stand along one long side (outer edge) of the bouncy castle with your back to the bouncy castle. Take the outside edge and go backwards 2/3 of the total width.
- Now turn around and take the other long side (outer edge) and fold it 1/3 in the same way so that the two long sides just touch each other. Don't overlap!
- Make sure that no internal parts, ropes or air hoses hang out to the sides.
- Only the bottom and the inlet/outlet hoses are visible.
- If you want, you can put your shoes back on now. Now, if necessary, remove any remaining air from the floor and fold the larger floor area once. Now you have two floor areas of the same size for a final "folding", whereby the total width of the folded play equipment must not exceed 1 m.
- With a few helpers, walk from front to back to expel any remaining air.
- Now, starting from the front side, two people should roll up the bouncy castle evenly and tightly like a snail. While rolling up on the bouncy castle, one or more helpers should walk directly in front of the resulting roll in order to press the material together.
- Finally, place a rope or tie-down strap around the pulley, wrap the inlet/outlet hose in the middle of the pulley under the rope or tie-down strap and lash it tight.
- If the bouncy castle has to be folded up when wet, it must be cleaned thoroughly as soon as possible, but no later than after 2-3 days, and dried while inflated.
- To clean, wipe the material with a damp cloth. For heavier soiling, use a mild cleaning agent (POLUX). Never use strong solvents or cleaning agents! (Risk of damage). If stubborn dirt still occurs, it can be done our professional cleaning service In extreme cases, it works wonders and makes your bouncy castle shine again.
